One of the best Independent artists in the Midwest”

— Editors of Billboard Magazine

"Green's show was a musical and visual treat for the audience"

Eric Schelkoph - The Kane County Chronicle

Add textDeciding that the well-worn paths that other musicians adhere to were not the proper routes for his own creativity, Chicago born Singer/Songwriter & Acoustic Guitar Instrumentalist, Jim Green transcends popular genres by creating fiery percussive driven songs and 3-dimensional fingerstyle instrumentals in a fresh and compelling way since 1999. He utilizes unusual guitar tunings while incorporating percussive rhythms, harmonics, and finger-tapping with a piano-like approach that is both musically and visually stimulating.

With nine record releases and multiple singles filling the song lists, Green’s live performances weave through genres such as avant-garde, rock, and singer/songwriter, with sounds ranging anywhere between a full driving rock band to a blissful simple melody.

Green’s driving perfectionism to his music brought him from an unknown street musician to gaining the attention of the Editors at Billboard Magazine, who named him "One of the best independent artists in the Midwest", and winning the 2004 Guitar Idol Championship. He has played with the band America and has opened for popular artists, such as Lucas Nelson, Ann Wilson (Heart), Pat Benatar, Credence Clearwater Revisited, Poi Dog Pondering, Johnny Rivers, Muriel Anderson, and Dire Straits Legacy. His seventh, and latest full-length recording, True North, received rave reviews and gained airplay on over 180 radio stations across the US and Canada, including NPR’s Echoes program. In 2023 Green signed to Sky Valley Record label and is releasing a new single every other month.
